Well Hello 3rd Trimester

Again, it feels like pregnancy is going by in a flash… and then other days it feels like it is taking forever! Finally, we are in the 3rd trimester. What has changed.

1. My belly!

Every week I think I can’t imagine getting any bigger and then it happens 🙂

2. My emotions

Kyle and I were talking about how I have been relatively non-hormonal throughout the pregnancy.  I feel like we jinxed ourselves. I find myself having spurts where I feel like I might cry when I otherwise wouldn’t have. I can’t complain though, If a few tears is the worst side affect I’ll take it.

3. Hot flashes

I say hot flashes which I was not expecting to experience but really its the feeling of being hot in general. I live in a pretty cold house to begin with, especially in the winter which I was fortunate enough to spend most of my second trimester in. But now that summer is approaching I find myself waking up in sweat throughout the night. I never thought I would miss my chilled bedroom. I truly don’t know how women are pregnant throughout summer, I do not envy them.

4. Sleep…..

I feel like getting up to go to the bathroom 4…5….6 times a night is good preparation for preparing to be up with a newborn.  Most recently we experienced our first thunderstorm of the season. Daisy… our dog…. does not appreciate thunderstorms and expresses his anxiety by spending that time curled up in our shower.  However, this time she decided she would plant herself in the middle of the bathroom on the rug. This made for some interesting trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night. She wasn’t budging and I wasn’t about try to to move an 80 lbs. doberman in the middle of the night. So I had to do some maneuvering to get around her. Again, I feel this is preparing me for motherhood.

5. Childcare

This is by far the most stressful part of being pregnant. At least in my experience. Trying to decide who your new baby whom you haven’t even met will spend 50% of their time with is an overwhelming feeling. There are so many factors to consider. Cost, infant ratio, philosophy, location…. and on and on.  I feel fortunate that we found one right away that met all our criteria that I feel comfortable with. The first few weeks back to work will be hard enough, it will be a relief to be able to visit my baby over my breaks.

6. Baby Kicks

And they kick hard! Its an amazing feeling. To actually be able to feel your baby move inside you. Kyle however finds it incredibly disturbing lol. Most of the time it is a reassuring feeling that baby is playfully rolling around but every once in awhile I get caught off guard by a strong kick to the ribs or belly button.

All in all, I am loving preparing for motherhood and can’t to meet our little baby!
